ABOUT / THE HUMAN STORY
Hi, I’m Hans — a
PRACTICE / 05
Start with the human experience.
My work begins beneath the interface: with the story, conditions, and interpretation that brought someone to this moment.
THIS BELIEF SHAPES HOW I APPROACH DESIGN
VISUAL NOTES / PLACES, LIGHT, MEMORY
Observations from my camera roll, sketchbook, and the places that make a lasting impression.
FROM TEACHING TO DESIGN
A live notebook of the shift.
Open the entries in any order — they trace the observations that moved me from teaching into research-led design.
Start with human experience.
Every behaviour is a clue to a deeper story.
Design for interpretation.
People don’t experience products objectively. They interpret them through their own lived experiences.
Look beyond the individual.
People exist within systems, relationships, cultures, and communities. Good design considers the whole ecosystem.
Reveal patterns before proposing solutions.
Design isn’t about fixing isolated problems. It’s about understanding the recurring patterns that shape them.
Create meaningful change.
The best products don’t simply reduce friction. They help people feel understood, capable, and connected.
